Love Letters

These paintings reflect my love of Pop Art and its precursors in the photos of Eugene Atget and Walker Evans in particular.  Signage and pop-ups, ubiquitous in our visual as well as online world, also inform these images, all of which contain letters or numbers.

"The Picasso Effect" 2014 - oil/linen 20" x 24" White letters on a storefront window cast their shadow onto an interior panel. The word and its echo made me think of the persistent power of Pablo Picasso. He's been gone over fifty years now but remains an indelible, indwelling presence.
